The B60 ALMOST NOTHING is a high performance sloop, designed and built to provide ultimate sailing fun without any rule restrictions.
The main concepts are:
- Easy boat handling
- Large cockpit
- Low maintenance level
- Sailing performance
The general interior layout of the B60 consists of two guest cabins with a separate head each in the aft part of the boat, a central saloon with a galley on port side and a technical area on starboard and an owner's cabin with a double bed and a separate head.
The galley is equipped with a gas stove with oven and two fridges as well as plenty of storage space. The technical area contains the main switchboard for the AC and DC systems.
Hull and deck
Hull and deck are built in sandwich construction using carbon prepregs and a foam core, vacuum consolidated. The structural layout provides the boat with a very high stiffness at a minimum weight. The structural components and local reinforcements for fittings and deck gear are made in carbon to consequently follow the concept of high class sailing. The side decks and cockpit floor are covered with teak deck.
An engineered system of composite longitudinal and athwartship girders and stringers reinforce the hull in the keel area. The chainplates are made in carbon construction to be connected to stainless steel receivers on deck.
The keel is composed from two pieces, the bulb and the fin, which are mechanically connected and bolted to the hull. The bulb is made in cast lead of approx. 4.500 kgs and is connected to the steel fin using 17-4PH bolts. The keel fin is a welded construction of high strength steel. The total weight of the keel fin is approx. 1000 kg.
The system consists of two painted aluminium steering wheels with laminated teak rings on composite pedestals with wiring system in Kevlar on separate pulleys and a composite quadrant with approx. 1000 mm. dia.. The rudder is a full spade rudder with carbon composite skin over foam and bonded to a carbon composite rudder stock.
The boat is equipped with a Volvo D2-75 hp engine with saildrive and a 3-blade Gori folding propeller.
A Cariboni hydraulic power pack (approx. 3kW) supplies the hydraulic rams for:
A Maxpower VIP 250/24 Bowthruster is operated by a separate hydraulic system.
ALMOST NOTHING is equipped with a Hall Spars carbon rig in 34-700 standard modulus carbon fibre, with 3 sets of spreaders, a Hall Spars carbon V-boom, and Navtec rod rigging.
