The lines and deck layout suggest its enormous speed potential, as does the name of the renowned designer Botin Partners from Santander in Spain.<\/strong><\/p><p>The yacht, christened CARO, was designed as a regatta boat for the famous long-distance races on the world's oceans. Nevertheless, it also had to be suitable for touring and in both cases it had to be able to be sailed by a small crew. Lightweight and easy to sail were therefore the requirements. The weight of just 16.7 tons with a ship length of 20 meters and a maximum width of 5.20 meters was achieved by using state-of-the-art construction materials. The sandwich construction for the hull and deck consists of carbon prepregs with a foam core. The visible surfaces are painted white, only the few furniture parts such as drawers and cupboards in the galley as well as doors and compartments in the saloon, owner's cabin and heads compartments are covered with elegant Cocobola veneer. They lend the interior a very elegant and warm accent and harmonize perfectly with the grey upholstery. Needless to say, the sinks, washbasins, washstands and toilets are also made of carbon. The clear lacquered parts provide a further contrast to the elegant white.<\/p><p>The interior layout of the CARO is simply functional. The owner can make himself comfortable in his spacious forward cabin with adjoining bathroom with WC and shower. There is a crew toilet to port and a spacious shower for the crew to starboard. Behind this is the saloon with the eye-catching keel box made of clear lacquered carbon. Comfortable benches, which can also be used as berths, offer plenty of space to relax. The galley and navigation area are located directly at the companionway. The navigation area has a traditional chart table. It has a monitor on which all the navigation data output by the Zeus plotter in the cockpit can be seen. It also serves as a typical computer screen. The galley is also traditionally equipped with a sink, refrigerator and gas stove.<\/p><p>The crew cabins are located in the aft passageways. The engine room, which houses the main engine, a 110 hp Volvo D3 diesel, as well as a second diesel engine and the hydraulic system, is located centrally under the cockpit. Winches, backstay, traveler, boom vang, furling system and genoa lifting points can be operated hydraulically. A furling boom can be fitted for touring and crossings, while a conventional boom is available for regattas.<\/span><\/p><p>The CARO was fitted with the latest development from Doyle Sailmakers as its sail wardrobe. Visually, the carbon fibers in the sails are a perfect complement to the white mast and silver hull.<\/p><p>The 4-spreader rig is also made of carbon and, like the boom, is painted white. In order to save weight in the top, the decision was made to use textile shrouds. The deck layout is clear and uncluttered. The halyards are concealed aft in the huge cockpit, which offers plenty of space for fast maneuvers. The 6 winches are sensibly arranged. The helmsman can choose between 2 steering positions with carbon wheels. However, the yacht not only has 2 helm stations, but also 2 rudder blades, which are intended to provide better control of the yacht on half-wind courses. Needless to say, the rudder cokers and blades are also made of carbon.<\/p><p>The discreet superstructure is painted silver in the hull color, all other surfaces on deck are covered with a 6 mm thick teak deck. The hatches, which are not used as a light source, are also covered with teak, which reinforces the impression of a clear, open deck. The gray instead of the usual black casting compound between the teak rods is very subtle.<\/p><p>CARO is a beauty of simple elegance - only the extremely wide \"butt\" is noticeable.<\/p><p>She will show what she is really capable of during the upcoming regattas in the most beautiful sailing areas of the world.
